We have just a small parcel of these tiny production wines from Project M winery in Oregon. The Bednarik Vineyard Pinot Noir comes from a very interesting site in the little known, but historic sub-region of Tualatin Hills. This area is home to several older plantings of Pinot Noir, Bednarik Vineyard being one of the jewels. Planted over 40 years ago, these own-rooted, dry-farmed, Pommard selection vines produces wines of incredible depth and character. There's a deep, brooding, brambly resonance to the wine. Quite dark fruited, blackberry, forest fruits, dusty earth, moss, warming spices, and hints of leather, too. Medium plus bodied, great fruit density in the attack, but long, persistent acidity really draws out the palate nicely with some of the more savory, earthy tones. We have a limited amount of wine at a really great price, so if this one appeals to you, get what you can before it's too late.

Notes of damp evergreen, wood ash, and wild berries give this pinot noir a woodsy vibe that is a perfect expression of its place of origin. Grippy tannins and mouth-watering acidity create a firm backbone for this lovely wine. Give it a little time to open up in your decanter if you would like to showcase more of the floral aromatics and ripe berry notes.

This 2022 Bednarik Vineyard Pinot Noir opens with an inviting and pure aromatic profile centered on ripe dark cherry. That primary fruit is beautifully accented by a subtle, savory herbal lift, which speaks to its Tualatin Hills origin. The wine is immediately approachable on the palate, defined by a smooth, polished texture and very fine, well-integrated tannins. This is not a wine of overt power, but rather one of balance and finesse, making it exceptionally easy to drink right now.
