Youthful profile here with almost vinous character. Abundant violets and roses on the nose, together with cherries and pomegranates. Fruity again on the medium- to full-bodied palate with firm, velvety tannins, a lot of freshness and good length. Plenty of substance and alcohol. It will need time to integrate. Best after 2026.

This is the perfect Brunello for those who appreciate a richer, more fruit-forward style. The nose is a captivating display of ripe dark cherry, plum, and sweet spices, with underlying notes of new leather and vanilla from its time in barrel. Unlike more austere, traditional Brunellos that demand a decade in the cellar, the 2020 Banfi has an open-knit, inviting texture that makes it a joy to drink right now, especially after an hour or two in a decanter. The finish is long and warm, echoing with notes of licorice and spice. This is a crowd-pleasing and impeccably made Brunello, the best choice at this price point.
