New to Sainsbury's, this hearty Douro red is made by Rita Marques and Marc Kent of Boekenhoutskloof fame. A field blend of native Portuguese grapes including Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca and Tinta Roriz from 30- to 60-year-old schist vineyards, partially fermented in traditional lagares. Impressive depth of smooth, spicy black fruit, with a savoury – almost meaty – finish and plenty of juicy freshness to balance. (JS)
