The 2023 Meursault Village, a blend of seven lieux-dits, has a crisp and focused bouquet with fine mineralité and light mossy/undergrowth scents that emerge with time. The palate is very well balanced with a slightly tangy entry. There is plenty of energy here, remaining focused and poised with touches of apricot and peach skin toward the finish. This will be a very pretty Meursault Village, just like the 2022.(NM)

Note: this wine has changed its composition substantially as it now includes vineyards that were previously bottled separately, in particular En la Barre, Clos le Meix Tavaux and Tillets; the blend is now from those vineyards plus Sous La Velle, Les Corbins, Pré de Manche and Les Chaumes de Narvaux. Here too there is a whiff of the exotic lurking in the background of the aromas of jasmine tea, white flower and passion fruit. The very generously proportioned flavors are rich to the point of opulence with a highly seductive mouthfeel before tightening up on the impressively long, balanced and complex finale. This is an excellent Meursault villages that is warmly recommended plus it should age gracefully.*Burghound Outstanding Top value!*

A green tint to the colour. Some crunch. A little more tension throughout the palate, apple fruit and good length. Working very well, with a very complete white fruit aftertaste. Drink from 2027-2032. Tasted Nov 2024.

Notes

Bill Nanson Burgundy Report: "An assembly of all the domaine’s villages lieu-dits this vintage – Antoine has been testing this for a number of years and found this approach to be the most complete and complex. ‘Of course, it’s more simple for me but there are advantages to making a large cuvée – you take up less oxygen, you lose less sulfur – and I have anyway a number of separate 1ers and with the reds – I still have over 20 cuvées.’ Here’s a good breadth of aroma, lightly textured. Very silky and sinuous – a broad line of delicious flavour – not ultra energetic but plenty and very Meursault. That’s a super villages."(01/2025)
