This is a Friulano with a distinct coastal soul, and it’s one of the most refreshing and unique whites in our portfolio. The Bortolusso estate is located in a very special part of Friuli, right near the Marano Lagoon, where the salty breezes of the Adriatic Sea directly influence the vineyards. The winery is on the lagon, the vineyard pretty much floats on top of the water. Unbelievable. This isn't the richer, almond-driven style of Friulano from the hills; this is a wine defined by its vibrant, saline minerality. The nose is a beautiful mix of white peach, citrus blossom, and wild herbs, all underscored by a clear note of sea spray and crushed oyster shell. The palate is light and zesty, with a racy acidity that makes your mouth water. The finish is clean, crisp, and wonderfully savory, echoing that distinct salty character from the lagoon. An incredible value. Top buy for sure!

Don’t know what to bring to dinner? Bring this 2024 Bortolusso Friulano. It’s so tasty no one will guess how little you paid, and it will pair beautifully with just about anything you throw down on the table. Made from 100% Friulano, it delivers bright acidity alongside a pleasantly rounded mouthfeel, with a touch of leesiness that makes the right side of my mouth curl into a sly smile. Think crunchy peach and pear, celeriac, Eureka lemon sunshine, sea spray, and a stimulating streak of minerality. At just 12.5% ABV, you could even pour it at brunch—serve cool, not cold.

Very pretty and aromatic nose, lots of white flowers with some white peach, some lemon drizzle, and a citrus pith on the nose. This is just so pleasant and easy so far, and the palate is no different, just super juicy and crushable. This is absolutely a Pool wine, nothing needed to enjoy this other than a glass but you probably wouldn't get upset having it with a salad or some light passed appetizers. This is really a nice bottle and at under $15 a compelling bottle of wine for Thanksgiving as well, I could absolutely see this with some turkey and some of the sides, it'd really be a nice option especially for opinionated people who don't like Chardonnay or Sauvignon Blanc or both.

Notes

The Bortolusso Friulano Friuli is produced in the Friuli Annia DOC zone near Carlino, Udine, along the coast of Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Italy, where the vines are rooted in saline, lagoon-adjacent soils that lend a unique sapidity to the wine. Gently crushed Friulano is cooled and settled, followed by fermentation at a controlled temperature with cultured yeasts to preserve classic varietal characteristics.
