This is a Friulano with a distinct coastal soul, and it’s one of the most refreshing and unique whites in our portfolio. The Bortolusso estate is located in a very special part of Friuli, right near the Marano Lagoon, where the salty breezes of the Adriatic Sea directly influence the vineyards. The winery is on the lagon, the vineyard pretty much floats on top of the water. Unbelievable. This isn't the richer, almond-driven style of Friulano from the hills; this is a wine defined by its vibrant, saline minerality. The nose is a beautiful mix of white peach, citrus blossom, and wild herbs, all underscored by a clear note of sea spray and crushed oyster shell. The palate is light and zesty, with a racy acidity that makes your mouth water. The finish is clean, crisp, and wonderfully savory, echoing that distinct salty character from the lagoon.
