The vines were planted in 1920. A fine even purple. This has a glorious aromatic quality, floral in excelsis, seductively thrilling, with an ease of access which belies just how well this is constructed. Brilliantly nuanced and entirely seamless with a long lush yet mineral finish. Drink from 2032-2040+.

The 2022 Chambertin Clos-de-Bèze Grand Cru has a perfumed bouquet with rose bush-infused red fruit, orange rind, forest floor, and light pencil box aromas. The medium-bodied palate is very tensile and poised with fine-boned tannins, gaining weight towards the finish that exerts a gentle grip. It's the one cuvée I feel will benefit from as long an élevage as possible (within reason). Great potential.(NM)

The 2022 Chambertin-Clos de Bèze Grand Cru has also turned out beautifully, unfurling in the glass with notes of blackberries and sweet red fruits mingled with rose petals, blood orange, spices and licorice. Full-bodied, ample and satiny, it's rich and layered, with an enveloping core of fruit, succulent acids and a broad, saline finish. (WK)
