It’s always fun to get a special taste from this little Speyside beauty. Known as one of the few wormtub distillers in Scotland and prized by blenders for having a ‘meaty’ quality valuable in boosting blend quality, this one isn’t always available, even independently. So getting our very own cask is certainly exciting, and this one particular is a very fun expression. The sweet orchard fruit and fresh baked pastries jump out on the nose, with honey graham and some dried apricots sitting right underneath. The palate shows that rich meaty quality it’s known for, with some minerality to balance out the toffee and earthy floral notes, drinking way softer than the 57.1% abv implies. The finish is classic Speyside, with stewed peaches and pears, orange oil, salted milk chocolate and roasted honey begging you to take another sip. This is a fantastic value, and another proud addition to our line of private offerings.
