At first this wine feels like walking past a flower shop before it opens, you catch hints of what's inside but need to wait for the full show. Once it opens up, it's like a stone fruit orchestra finding its rhythm, building to a crescendo before taking a refreshing dive into salty ocean waters. *Best Buy* (JP)

This is Timorasso at its most athletic and high-tension. The 2023 is electric, racing out of the glass with aromas of crushed white stone, green apple, and white flowers. On the palate, it is crystalline and savory, finishing with a sharp, lip-smacking salinity that begs for raw seafood or rich, bloomy-rind cheeses.

I've been drinking lots of Italian white wines lately, and it is because of delightful wines like these. Beautiful aromas and flavors of the fresh stone fruits, yellow pears, jasmine tea, and a touch of crystallized ginger. A crisp, refreshing wine that kept growing on me till it was gone. Enjoy!

Timorasso is one of the least known yet one of the most important white grapes in Italy. It hails from the southeastern hills of Piemonte and yields wines with substantial depth, complexity and ageability. This latest direct import reflects the best characteristics of Timorasso with an impressive aromatic display of white flowers, mineral and subtle honey notes along with a fresh and compact palate enhanced by substantial acidity. The finish is bright and crisp with a pleasant salinity. It's certainly wonderful now yet will cellar nicely for several years.

Notes

The 2023 Vigneti Repetto "Quadro" Derthona is a brilliant, early-drinking vintage for this 100% Timorasso, sourced from calcareous-clay plots in Sarezzano. To maintain maximum varietal precision, it was fermented entirely in stainless steel and aged on its fine lees for 9 months with weekly batonnage. In the glass, it shows a pale straw color. The nose opens like a flower shop just before opening—subtle at first, but unfurling with crisp yellow apple, lemon blossom, and lime marmalade, underscored by an intense, smoky flint minerality. The palate is powerful and medium-to-full-bodied, balancing a supple, oily mid-palate with a driving, vertical acidity and a long, savory-salty finish. It drinks beautifully now but will develop deeper petrol and honeyed complexity over the next five years.
