The 2024 Château Vitallis Mâcon-Fuissé comes from vines averaging approximately 35 years of age. Fermented in stainless steel vats and aged on its fine lees for six months, it made an immediate impression. First sip: yum. Second sip: oh, yum! Third sip...HEY! Pay attention, you’re on the clock! On the palate, ripe green apple leads into pleasurable notions of honeydew melon, lively lemon, chamomile blossoms, and soft whispers of baking spice. There’s tremendous freshness, charm, and generosity in this wine. It's a *fantastic* value. Wow. Hat tip to K&L Burgundy Buyer Alex Pross for scoring this one for all of us to enjoy.

Heads up! This is going to be your new go-to summer white from Burgundy! This brand-new release just arrived, and it is super tasty for very little $! Running towards a crispier style with tart green apple and lush stone fruit flavors. A nice bit of white peach with the addition of lemon cream and a finish of clean minerals. This one is going to be so versatile with pretty much any type of food that you want to serve it with. Everything from picnic foods to barbecue to elegant fish dishes.

There's something kind of reassuring about sticking your nose in a glass of wine and getting back the exact notes you were expecting to get. There's a really pretty soft green apple, with a little touch of ripe pear, and then a little slice of lemon on top of the whole thing, with just soft and light spice note buried down deep. The palate is clean and delicious, exactly what you want it to be. There's a good level of acidity, and the fruit is all really nice. There's more apple and pear, with a really nice splash of lemon, and a very slightly spiced finish. The palate is mid-rich with a really nice mouthfeel and overall good weight. This is a crazy amount of wine for just $18, and for people who think that Burgundy doesn't have any good values, I point at this most expressively with both hands.

Notes

Vitallis is a new "hidden gem" our buyers found in the Mâcon, where small producers fly under the radar. In classic Burgundian fashion, the Dutron family has been growing vines since 1835, and now owns some of the oldest and best parcels in the village of Fuissé in the Pouilly-Fuissé district. In the glass, the wines live up to the hype.
