Review Date: 01/2025Lovely lemony fruit is the initial impression of the Meursault-Blagny from Michel Bouzereau; with time, there are notes of white flowers and salty minerality. The texture is silky but vibrates with delicious tension. The grapes are from a half-hectare at nearly 400m at the very end of Blagny, in the lieu-dit Les Ravelles; they are slowly pressed before fermentation and ageing in cask (25% new), mostly from Damy. Give this wine three to five years to open and drink it over the 20 that follow.(CC)

Pale lemon colour. An attractive, fresher nose, some fresh herbal notes on a white limestone base, nothing yellow here. Slightly more austere as befits Blagny. Good tension, and pleasing persistence. Drink from 2028-2033. Tasted Oct 2024.

Note: from Les Ravelles. A slightly riper yet still agreeably fresh nose features notes of white peach, citrus confit and a suggestion of the exotic. The mouthfeel of the medium-bodied flavors is again rich and generous yet there is good pop supporting the equally bone-dry, firm and overtly austere finale. This is also going to need at least a few years of cellaring and in particular because it needs to develop better depth. *Burghound Outstanding!*

The 2023 Meursault Blagny 1er Cru lacks the energy and focus of the Grands Charrons that precedes it, and is a bit muted at this point. The palate is well balanced with a slightly viscous opening. It is crisp and focused, though I am seeking a little more mineralité and tension on the finish. Fine, but earlier drinking than the 2022. I have extolled Bouzereau’s wines for several years now and they are beginning to surpass some of his more famous Meursault-based names at the Burgfest tasting. These are wines that come packed with flavor, perhaps missing subtlety for some, but they deliver the requisite salinity and tension to make them irresistible.(NM)
