Reviewed January 2025A clear pale colour. The bouquet suggests white orchard fruit, without the softer riper extras. A lovely pillow of white fruit on the palate, with good acidity behind, the return of the citrus notes, quite compelling for a vineyard which rarely gets the limelight. The clays now warm up enough, suggests Antonin. Drink from 2027-2031. Tasted Oct 2024.

Vinous
The 2023 Chassagne-Montrachet Les Macherelles 1er Cru has a knockout nose with ebullient peach skin, apricot blossom and beeswax scents that lean a little towards Meursault in style. The palate is quite powerful but retains balance, a twist of bitter lemon and a slightly pithy finish. Wonderful complexity. This comes recommended.(NM)

This also displays just enough reduction to render the nose hard to evaluate. More interesting are the delicious and punchy, if not especially dense, flavors that are notably more refined before culminating in a bone-dry and saline-inflected finish that is solidly persistent and not particularly austere. This could use better depth so a few years of keeping are recommended.
Notes
Bill Nanson Burgundy Report: "This was the first test plot that was put in organic by Antonin – the results were so good – the rest of the domaine is now in conversion. A more vibrant width again – complex but not quite as forward. Larger in the mouth, depth of flavour and only slowly melting into a long but subtle finish – that’s a very lovely wine."(09/2024)
