This has quite an aromatic complexity, with spicy, floral and nutty notes. Charming and medium-bodied with a very satisfying balance of juiciness and citrusy freshness that lights up the long finish. A cuvee of 30% gewurztraminer, 23.5% pinot gris, 18.7% riesling, 18% sylvaner, 6% pinot blanc and 3.8% muscat. Drink now.

The 2023 Gentil Hugel is a blend of 3% Muscat, 18% Sylvaner, 6% Pinot Blanc, 30% Gewurztraminer, 19% Riesling and 24% Pinot Gris. Despite the quite different assemblage, its customary exquisite and gentle floral perfume is preserved alongside a superb creaminess. This is scented, subtle and bright, with exquisite lightness and freshness. (Bone-dry)(AK)

Ian d'Agata Wine Review: "Pale straw yellow. Rather cool on the nose and the palate, offering delicately spicy and honeyed nuances to go with the green apple, rose petal, and white flowers. Then nectarine and peony dominate on the palate and the long, lifted finish. The 2023 Gentil is a mix of 30% Gewurz, 9% Pinot Gris, 7% Riesling and 7% Muscat, with the rest made up of Sylvaner and Pinot Blanc (they have been increasing the Gewurztraminer in this blend, which is probably a good idea as it gives the Gentil a bit more of a welcome “you lookin’ at me?” personality. Differently from Edelzwicker, a similar white wine blend that was however very much a price-driven wine, the Gentil is a far more noble tipple. And this wine drives that point.
