This is aromatically quite similar to the La Garenne but with more of the smoky component in evidence. The delicious and vibrant flavors are not as concentrated with they are a bit finer with good cut and minerality adding interesting to the youthfully austere finale that could also use better depth so once again, at least a few years of keeping are in order.

The 2023 Puligny-Montrachet Sous Le Puits 1er Cru has a more generous bouquet that has more touches of sun and tropical fruit than Sauzet's other Premier Cru. The palate is rounded and a little soft, with slightly lower acidity than its peers. This is generous with fleeting tangerine and nectarine notes. It's a Puligny predestined for earlier drinking than its peers.(NM)
