Wine Advocate
Reviewed January 2025The 2023 Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru Aux Serpentières has turned out beautifully, bursting with aromas of cherries, sweet berries, orange zest, petals and spices. Medium to full-bodied, ample and fleshy, it's generous and charming.
The 2023 vintage is a solid success for Domaine Pierre Guillemot, delivering a lighter, more immediate style than in 2022. As readers will remember, this seven-hectare estate is rather classical, the reds fermenting in wooden tanks with temperature control, followed by élevage with modest percentages of new wood. Whole clusters increasingly play a role here. The wines are remarkably consistent, surpassing expectations in challenging years and fully delivering in more propitious vintages.(WK)

The yield here was no more than 45 hl/ha. As always the wine from Serpentières is a little paler. A bit more floral on the nose, quite elegant, showing the whole bunches a touch more. Some alpine strawberry, plush and satisfying throughout, with a notably long finish on the crushed strawberry note. Drink from 2029-2034. Tasted Oct 2024.

Vinous
The 2023 Savigny-lès-Beaune Aux Serpentières 1er Cru comes from two hectares of vines located in two parcels owned by the Domaine, a relatively large holding of 1.7 hectares. Perhaps this has the most delineation and finesse on the nose, quite mineral-driven with adequate fruit. The palate is silky-smooth on the entry, with very pliable tannins and a keen thread of acidity. Its commendable depth toward the finish makes it almost feel more like a Côte de Nuits. Very fine.(NM)
