So powerful and energetic, yet all of this is packed into a sleek silhouette. Great yellow apple fruit and terrific freshness make this an exciting riesling Kabinett in which everything fits together beautifully. Who cares if it’s not really dry, because it is so enormously invigorating. Drink or hold.

The 2023 Riesling Wintricher Ohligsberg Kabinett opens with stony, slaty smokiness trailing lemon. The palate offers ease and lightness, with lemon and gentle sweetness, sprightly, alive and totally invigorating. This strikes a natural balance and rings with lemon freshness.(AK)

The 2023 Ohligsberg Kabinett, as it is referred on the consumer label, was made from vines planted in 1971 on single pole and grapes harvested at 77° Oechsle in the lower part (close to the Mosel River) of the vineyard and was fermented down to fruity-styled levels of residual sugar (47 g/l). It offers a superbly flowery and refined nose of lily flower, fine almond, jasmine, lime, and orange blossom. The wine proves layered and refined on the zesty and pure palate. There is a hint of juicy yellow fruits coming through, yet the finish is nicely straight and pure. This is a beautiful drinking Kabinett. 2031-2043.(06/2024)
