***Best In Show Trophy at Decanter World Wine Awards 2025*** We’re thrilled to see a wine from Alexander Valley join our Best in Show selection. This distinctive zone clearly offers Cabernet of significantly different style to Napa: amply fleshed, yes, but with a savoury, mountain wildness to that flesh, and with a different acid emphasis. The blend here, with its seasoning of Petite Syrah, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc, surely also plays a role in lending this wine its intriguing complexities. It’s black-red in colour, with open, affably fruity aromas lent depth by a dry-forest warmth; on the palate the wine has both breadth and depth as well as a compelling inner sweetness. The plump tannins with that distinctive savoury nuance bring the wine resolution and balance.

This is a big wine for the price. Plush dark fruit fills out the medium-heavy body and finishes with a warm spiced kick on the palate. This cab is an open and inviting crowd pleaser that doesn't need much air to release its rich aroma. Great for parties!

A semi-savory nose, saved from being just umami with this beautiful fruit-leather note going through it, it's some sort of cherry-berry blend. There's a good amount of barrel spice as well, and a little hint of creaminess, coupled with a loamy note like what's underneath when you brush away the forest floor and the petrichor drifts up at you. The palate has a decent tannin structure, but gives up a lot of savory notes from the nose and comes at you with a bushel of fruit and no time to waste. There's cherry, blackberry, a little bit of black currant, and then the barrel comes back in with some little notes of sandalwood, cedar, and vanilla in the very back. I thought it was surprisingly good, and for just $20, a really compelling Tuesday evening wine.
