James Suckling
Review Date: 09/2020Medium-round tannins, carrying flavors of berries, chocolate and walnuts. Medium-bodied with polish and finesse to the ripe fruit and structure. Plenty of tar and ripe-strawberry character, too. Drink in 2022 and onwards.

From 2.5ha in Arborina on Sant’Agata marl - a mix of clay, fine sand and limestone - surrounded by the highly regarded vineyard of Annunziata, this wine is an elegant expression of Nebbiolo. Matured in 30% new oak, it has fleshy cherry scents with a vein of richer black berry fruits. Intense but still firm due to its youth, you can feel its inherent softness and sweetness preparing to unfurl. It's very well balanced, with lovely fresh acidity and fine, grippy tannins. The long, mouthwatering finish displays tangy raspberry and cherry fruit with a hint of salinity and a lick of wood. (JB)

La Morra. Tasted blind. Lustrous mid ruby. Pure cherry nose with earthy notes and hints of cinnamon bark. Generous fruit palate with integrated supple acidity and sensationally polished, long tannins. Closes up and becomes a little numb, but the balance is nothing less than spectacular. (WS) (Drink between 2024-2038) 17++/20
