Reviewed November 2024This ruby-coloured Santenay has moderately pronounced raspberry and plum fruit aromas with a hint of spice. The texture is light and delicate, with fresh acidity and moderately firm tannins; there is slightly more depth and length than the domaine's Santenay La Cassière. The Clos Gênet is located at the base of the slope; within the climat there is a walled clos that is the monopole of Domaine Jessiaume. This is a lovely village-level Santenay for drinking now or mid-term ageing.(CC)

Mid crimson to ruby. The bouquet adds a savoury element to the juicy fruit evident in the other Santenays. There is more weight of fruit at the back of the palate, then some tannins, though they have been very lightly worked, and useful persistence. A bit strawberry acid drops maybe. More clay in the soil, hence the body and tannins. Drink from 2026-2030. Tasted Oct 2024.

The 2023 Santenay Clos du Clos Genet comes from a parcel next to the namesake village. This has a well-defined, slightly earthy bouquet with ample red fruit and touches of blackcurrant emerging with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied and quite refined with a powdery texture. It's not quite as complex as its stablemate, La Cassière, but it's nicely focused, with satisfying purity on the finish. Fine.(NM)
