The Santigaini represents Capichera's flagship Vermentino wine from a single vineyard which derives its name from the Gallurese word for October when this cool-climate grape achieves its peak sweetness. The wine has demonstrated granite elegance and textural richness and longevity since its initial release in 2003. The second-generation owners of Capichera led a Vermentino revolution in Sardinia through their hillside vineyards and refined winemaking techniques which established new quality standards for the entire region. The wine presents complex floral and honeyed scents alongside citrus notes and aromatic herbs and saltiness and lavender which harmonize in depth. The full-bodied wine aged for 9 months in stainless steel tanks followed by 6 months in barrique barrels which added weight and structure without compromising its freshness. The wine presents ripe stone fruits which are supported by bright acidity and mineral drive while finishing with a long and lingering taste. The wine possesses a unique combination of immediate drinkability and aging potential of 5–10 years which is uncommon for white wines. This is unarguably the best Vermentino in the world.
