Moderate wood and menthol influences can be found on the ripe and quite floral-suffused aromas of poached plum and dark berries with just enough earth character to mention. The Epenots cuvée comes from both Grands and Petits Epenots, with 50% whole bunch vinification and 50% new wood. An even crimson purple. The bouquet is less immediate than the Chaponnières but soon starts to climb. There is a fine structure to the darker fruit, black raspberry and indeed blackberry, refined high class tannins, lowish acidity but the structure works very well as it is. Drink from 2032-2040.
