From a sheltered part of the Brittan estate, the Heritage block is a 3.5-acre parcel planted to heritage clones from California and Oregon—stunning floral aromatics, forest notes of pine and sous bois, with an undeniable ocean-borne salinity. The palate shows ample refinement, taut black and blue fruits, savoury notes of eucalyptus and sea salt playing with earth and sweet truffle. It's a gorgeous bottle of Pinot Noir. (CP)

Int'l Wine Review

Aged for 10 months in 30% new French oak, the 2021 Heritage Block Pinot Noir pours a glimmering medium ruby core with a delicate light pink rim. On the nose, crushed raspberries and mountain blueberries are met with earthy notes of dried mint and sagebrush. The palate brings a delightful surprise with hints of sweet Naval orange oil and a subtle touch of clove on the finish. The smooth tannins and vibrant acidity create a beautifully balanced wine. Only 112 cases made.

Vinous

The 2021 Pinot Noir Estate is intense with a lively burst of crushed raspberries, incense, dried rose and lifting hints of menthol. It sweeps across the palate with textures of pure silk, offset by a core of tart wild berry fruit and notes of sour citrus. This saturates with a staining of primary concentration as a gentle tug of fine tannins resonates and a suggestion of licorice fades. (EG)

Wine Enthusiast

The Heritage Block's blueberry, candlewax and dark chocolate aromas are joined by a new leather briefcase smell that I loved. This is full-bodied juice, with hedonistic flavors of boysenberry jam, dried cranberries and English breakfast tea. The wine spent 10 months in French oak, 30% new. Acidity and tannins feel just right. (MA)
