2022 Benjamin et David Duclaux "Maison Rouge" Côte-Rôtie
96
Jeb Dunnuck
Review Date: 05/2025Coming from a more granitic site in the southern part of the appellation, the deeper ruby/plum-hued 2022 Côte Rôtie Maison-Rouge offers up a stunningly pure, layered, medium to full-bodied style intermixed with ample red, blue, and black fruits, along with classic floral, gamey, and mint herb aromatics. Made from 100% Syrah and aged 20 months in 40% new French oak, it shows fine yet building tannins and a great finish. Drink bottles over the coming 10-15 years.

dark red; the nose is bold fronted, shows blackberry and raspberry with some solar depth, is a good fit. The palate starts richly, but has a fresh line through it, with emphasis on the second half, a couch of firm content, discreet squeeze in its feel. It’s riper than the Germine 22, but carries good potential, is always a bit more solar than Germine. The tannins prowl around, give a good reserve, a true foundation. Lots of potential here, possible ***** if all goes well post bottling. 40% whole bunch. 4(5) stars
