The superb premier cru Clos de la Jaquelotte has forward, expressive passion fruit and gooseberry aromas, salty minerals and white blossoms. The texture is lively and bright despite the year's heat, driving the wine to a lingering finish. The grapes are from the Pernot family's old-vine holdings in this lieu-dit, which is part of Champ-Canet near the top of the slope. When there is enough to fill the press, they will press themselves in a vertical press; if not, they collect the must from her father's winery.(CC)

Burghound

Note: La Jacquelotte is a lieu-dit within Champ Canet with only two owners; from vines planted in 1966. A more elegant and slightly cooler nose reflects better layering with its aromas of a plenitude of floral elements that are liberally laced with citrus confit, spice and exotic tea. There is excellent punch to the overtly stony, detailed and more refined flavors that culminate in a bitter lemon, complex and chiseled finale. This is sufficiently compact to repay up to a decade of keeping. Fine quality here.*Burghound Outstanding!*

Planted in the 1950s. Pale in colour, with very little nose. Fresh apples emerge on the palate, really quite concentrated, this is a more chiselled, less nuanced tyle, with good length, but not yet really ready to display its detail. Drink from 2028-2034. Tasted Oct 2024.

The 2023 Puligny-Montrachet Clos de la Jacquelotte 1er Cru hails from a lieu-dit within Champ-Canet (Jacques Carillon also owns vines here, but that fruit is blended into his Champ-Canet). It has a crisp and precise bouquet. Subtle yellow fruit, crushed rocks and hints of orange blossom gently unfold on the nose. The palate is fresh and vibrant with the oak seamlessly integrated. it's lightly spiced with a bright and vivacious finish. This is a strong follow-up to the excellent 2022.(NM)

Notes

Bill Nanson Burgundy Report: "In the Champs Canet 1er An airy width of aroma – yellow citrus but soft citrus. Jucy and effusive – that’s another dangerous wine… Love it – bravo."(01/2025)
