2022 Ghostnote Wines "Calleri - Siletto Vineyard" San Benito County Corvina
Review Date: 07/2025
Hello Corvina! This darling variety of the Valpolicella comes from own-rooted, organically grown vines planted on the limestone-rich soils of the Caleri plot within Stiletto Vineyard in San Benito County. The wine underwent native primary and secondary fermentation, aged 16 months in neutral 225L barrels and was bottled unfined and unfiltered. This strikes clear notes of black raspberry, cassis, blood orange, and whispers of vanilla and crushed rock. Fresh, clean, light on its feet and well-defined—it's so easy to sip, ideally with a light chill.

Notes
San Benito County features a Mediterranean climate moderated by cooling Pacific winds from Monterey Bay. Vineyards were first planted in the 1850s by Theophile Vache, with large-scale development beginning in the 1950s under Almaden, later sold to Constellation Brands. The county holds a small group of sub-AVAs: Mount Harlan, Cienega Valley, Lime Kiln Valley, Paicines, and San Benito.
