A barrel fermented and aged blend of 75% Roussanne and 25% Viognier, the 2016 Hommage Blanc is crisp and refreshing, with notes of under ripe pineapple, tangerine and citrus giving way to a tight, crisp 2016 that has beautiful length. It's going to gain a touch of weight with 6-12 months in bottle and drink nicely for 2-3 years. One of the top talents in Paso Robles (which is packed with talent) is unquestionably Guillaume Fabre, who worked at l’Aventure for several years while building his own label, Clos Solene. Guillaume is the talent behind the wines of a number of estate, including Benom (a project with his Brother), Pharaoh Moans and Al Lago, all reviewed in this report. These are quintessential California wines that has incredible textures and purity. Count me as a fan.

Light green-tinged yellow. Powerful aromas of orange zest, apple and honeysuckle, along with a subtle overlay of smoky minerals. Silky and expansive on the palate, offering concentrated citrus fruit, melon and peach nectar flavors and hints of vanilla and succulent herbs. Finishes impressively long and smooth, displaying outstanding clarity, an echo of candied pear and a lingering floral quality. I'd confidently pour this impressive wine alongside plenty of big names from the Rhône Valley. (JR)

Composed of 75% Roussanne and 25% Viognier, the 2016 Hommage Blanc opens with beautiful fresh pears, white peaches and allspice notes with hints of honeyed toast and beeswax. Medium to full-bodied, it fills the palate with spicy stone fruit, lifted by a racy line of freshness and finishing on a honey and peach note. (LPB)

Plumeria, honey and poached pear aromas show on the rounded, ripe and yet somewhat reserved nose of this blend of 75% Roussanne and 25% Viognier. The palate is both tropical and extremely fresh, with pear flesh and light guava flavors wrapped up in a bountiful acid and grippy texture. (MK)
