Review Date: 01/2025The 2023 Chambolle-Musigny Les Amoureuses 1er Cru, vinified with 50% whole bunches, has an understated bouquet that gradually unfolds in the glass with notes of black cherry, violet, flint and touches of graphite. It is not flamboyant, but it is toying with opulence. The palate is medium-bodied, poised and tender, with svelte tannins and a real peacock's tail on the finish. Again, this is better than the 2022. It is really quite a stupendous Amoureuses.(NM)

Les Amoureuses 2023 from de Vogüé is superb, with lovely bright pomegranate and plum fruit aromas and hints of violets, ginger and clove, all underscored by firm minerality. The most alluring aspect of the wine, however, is the velvet texture; it is focused, intense and manages to be ethereal and concentrated at the same time. After replanting a large swath of the vineyard, the remaining plant material is truly top-notch. Ideally, one will give this beauty five to 10 years to open, but this is a wine that will age for decades.(CC)

Note: from a .56 ha parcel where approximately .16 ha of it was pulled up after the 2021 harvest, leaving a .40 ha holding in production. A completely different aromatic profile is strikingly elegant, airy and expressive with a perfumed combination of spice and floral elements, especially violet and rose petal, along with the essence of red pinot fruit. The super-sleek and markedly mineral-driven medium weight flavors display stunningly good length before culminating in a youthfully austere and impeccably well-balanced finish. As all of the best examples of Amoureuses, the overall impression is one of Zen-like poise.*Burghound Don't Miss! Outstanding!*

A glowing imperial purple. The bouquet is surprisingly reserved, given that Amoureuses can sometimes be so immediately seductive. The palate, though, is beautifully concentrated and very peppery behind the flamboyant red fruit. Good acidity, fine persistence. Drink from 2032-2038. Tasted Nov 2024.
