The wood treatment is much more toned down on the perfumed nose of spicy dark berries and subtle earth wisps. The succulent and delicious, if barely middle weight, flavors possess both good vibrancy and an attractive texture before terminating in a lingering and balanced finish. This isn't dense but is does possess solid overall quality.

A broad, opulent red, sporting plum, cherry, earth and oak spice flavors. Flashes of camphor and sandalwood peek through as this converges on the dense, dusty finish. Best from 2027 through 2033.

The 2023 Côte de Nuits-Villages Le Vaucrain (Domaine Louis Jadot) exhibits expressive aromas of cherries, strawberries and spices, followed by a medium-bodied, supple and succulent palate. This is especially forward this year and will drink well young. Winemaker Frédéric Barnier and his team have once again delivered a strong portfolio chez Jadot. Barnier stressed the importance of sorting and of vigilance during élevage, in particular where acid rot made an appearance, and he didn't hesitate to perform a saignée for cuvées where yields where high. As I've written before, in the cellar, foudres and 500-liter barrels now complement classic 228-liter pièces, a further evolution adapting to warmer, riper vintages. What's more, barrels are now used four rather than three times, meaning the percentage of new oak overall has fallen. A cold room also helps chill down any fruit that's too warm when it enters the winery, something especially important during the warm 2023 harvest. This vintage also marks the third vintage of organic conversion for the Domaine Louis Jadot and the Domaine Gagey.(WK)

Clear mid ruby, a pleasing raspberry and strawberry nose of medium density, weight of fruit up the front, some continuing to the back, with a generous juicy fruit around the mild tannins. Drink from 2027-2030. Tasted Oct 2024.
