2022 Domaine FL Savennières Roche-aux-Moines
98
James Suckling
Review Date: 10/2024If you’ve never had a great Savennieres before, this demonstrates how magnificent they can be. Brimming with citrus blossom and floral honey notes, this has a spectacular mineral intensity and vitality that take your breath away. At the super-long finish there’s a haunting smoky character. From biodynamically grown grapes. Drink or hold. (SP)

Notes
Notes on the producer from Yohan Castaing for Wine Advocate: "Domaine FL emerged in the Loire's viticultural landscape in 2006 when entrepreneur Philip Fournier, leveraging his acumen from the telecommunications industry, entered the winemaking domaine through strategic acquisitions from a part of Domaine Jo Pithon and the Château de Chamboureau. Now stretching across 43 hectares, the estate has been officially labelled for its organic viticulture. In the cellar, the wines are matured for a long time, and malolactic fermentation is carried right through to completion. FL owns many well-situated parcels in Savennières or Anjou; the wines are classic and well executed." (01/2024)
