Just a little more colour here, and a brisker nose with some tangy plum fruit. Excellent weight on the palate. Not too soft nor too heavy, the acidity works well here. A long finish with a crisper touch. Overall, I prefer the balance here to the Chaumées, and there is a little more complexity in the fruit. Drink from 2027-2034. Tasted Oct 2023.

Note: from a .49 ha holding. There is plenty of petrol character and rosemary oil nuances suffusing the ripe and fresh aromas of white flowers and apple compote. The delicious, vibrant, rich and caressing medium-bodied flavors coat the palate with sappy dry extract that also serves to buffer the moderately firm acidity spine supporting the citrusy, clean, dry and balanced finale. This is quite good and a wine that could be enjoyed young or held for up to a decade first.*Burghound Outstanding!*

Bright and elegant, showing apple, lemon pie and butterscotch flavors that pick up a mineral hint as this builds on the palate. This supple, fluid version tails off a little on the finish. Drink now through 2028.

The 2022 Chassagne-Montrachet Les Chenevottes 1er Cru comprises six barrels this year, two new. It has a composed bouquet with hints of praline infusing the citrus fruit, just a subtle scent of sea spray emerging with time. The palate is well-balanced, with more concentration than some of Colin's other cuvées, segueing into a slightly nutty finish that lingers nicely in the mouth. Give it a year or two once bottled.(NM)
