Review Date: 11/2024Cherry and blackberry flavors are front and center in this ripe, round red. Hints of earth and spices add detail, while the succulent texture persists on the fruit-filled finish. Drink now through 2035.

A pretty mid purple colour. More in cherries than berry fruit on the nose. The fruit has a slight chocolate note as well at the moment, but has just been racked. Good fruit acid balance once again. This should turn out well when it settles down. Drink from 2026-2029. Tasted Oct 2023.

A discreet application of wood sets off notes of raspberry, blue pinot fruit, pepper and a slightly more prominent earthy nuances. The succulent, round and pliant easy-to-like flavors deliver reasonable length if only average complexity on the mildly rustic finale. This too is forward enough to enjoy upon release if desired.

The 2022 Santenay Clos de Saint-Jean, which comes from the maternal side of the Domaine, has a bright nose with wild strawberry and Morello cherry. Good definition. The palate is sappy on the entry with a powdery texture, fine grip, and acidity, though the finish has just a little rusticity. But this is a perfectly decent Santenay to drink over the next 6-8 years.(NM)
