Another gem from Courbis, the 2023 Cornas La Sabarotte is already expressive and complex, offering spicy red and black fruits, graphite, crushed stone, and peppery herb-driven aromatics. It's medium to full-bodied, pure, and wonderfully textured on the palate, with enough structure to evolve for 15-20 years. I followed this bottle for multiple days, and it only improved with air. It's a brilliant wine that should drink well over the coming 15-20 years.

Dark, brooding and powerful, with a wealth of boysenberry, spice and dried lavender notes on its generous frame, lacquered with toasty oak. Iron and salt smolder in the backdrop. Impressively finessed and energetic despite its large frame and ripeness; a delicious, expertly crafted Cornas. Give this some cellar time for the oak to fully integrate. Best from 2026 through 2038. La Sabarotte delivers deeply saturated flavors of black cherry, candied fig, sassafras, and bay leaf. With just a little patience, those savory, bacon-y nuances will emerge beautifully. Structurally built for the long haul and packed with concentration, it has stuffing for days—but even now, with a quick decant, it offers a thrilling glimpse of its future.

Email JohnThis show stopper is dense, concentrated and complex and worthy of time in the cellar to properly evolve. Everything is in place here and this seamless Syrah is certain to please the experienced as well as the uninitiated. Outstanding.

Email AaronJust amazingly lovely opening nose, so juicy and dense it pulls you in like a whirlpool as you swirl your glass, slowly hypnotizing yourself into a state truly ready for enjoying this wine. On top of the black currant, black cherry, there's also this anise note coming in from the side and the fruit has a little creaminess from the new oak that's used each year. The palate is amazing, the mouthfeel is just absolutely top notch, their vinification process seeming to encourage this in all their wines that I've tried so far, it's just crazy good. The tannins are ultra-fine and ultra-integrated, even this young they're so supple after just a few hours of air, the fruit on the palate is rich and ripe and juicy, just presenting so well. This is really what it's all about, finding wines like this that you just kind of instantly fall in love with. Such a gem. I wish it had cheeks I could pinch it's just so adorable.
