From a higher elevation, cooler terroir, the 2022 Cornas Les Eygats reveals a vivid purple hue as well as a more chiseled, focused style in its pure cassis and subtle blue fruits as well as incredible minerality in its graphite, violets, and crushed stone-like minerality. It's medium to full-bodied, focused, flawlessly balanced, and has fine tannins that will need 2-4 years of bottle age. 93-95+

A well-balanced, textural and fleshy Cornas with dark berries, leather and baking spices on the nose. It’s medium-bodied with creamy tannins. Fruity, with a cocoa-powder texture and a flavorful, solid and persistent finish. Drink from 2027.
Staff Reviews

Les Eygats opens with deep aromas of blackberry and boysenberry, its inviting nose drawing you back again and again. On the palate, it’s rich yet elegant, with sweet, seamless tannins and a supple texture. It’s a perfect crossover for fans of polished New World Syrah—think Stolpman or K Vintners—combining real depth with an underlying charm.

Email JohnIn comparison to the "Champelrose" I found this Cornas to be a bit more compact with a more subtle and less spicy nose. It packs a lot of flavor and punch on the palate as well as serious depth and complexity. Although delicious now, it's certain to evolve nicely with a bit of cellaring.
