2024 Château de Montfaucon Lirac Rosé

2024 Château de Montfaucon Lirac Rosé

Review Date: 02/2026

Inspired by Tavel, the 2024 Château de Montfaucon Lirac Rosé is impressive, delivering a richly rewarding cost-to-pleasure ratio. Certified organic, it's woven from equal parts Grenache, Cinsault, Carignan, and Counoise—all pressed and co-fermented, then aged in 600L barrels. The color is a gorgeous rose-petal pink, and the palate is thirst-quenching, offering ripe nectarine, raspberry, dried rose petals, and a hint of flaky pastry crust. It reminds me of a late-summer fruit galette. It's the kind of rosé I love to have on hand for when only a well-made pink wine will do. Great with or without food—but dress up a little, this wine is no porch pounder. It deserves your time and consideration.

Notes

Just across the Rhône river from the esteemed vineyards of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, this 88-acre estate is owned and operated by Rodolphe de Pins, a UC Davis graduate and former member of the winemaking staff at Domaine du Vieux Télégraphe. Montfaucon crafts their Côtes du Rhône to express the intense fruit characteristics of the appellation, blending to achieve harmony and balance. The Lirac Rose is an hommage to its neighbor Tavel, showing the same verve and richness that accompanies that hallowed rose producing region.
