2022 Domaine Rossignol-Trapet Gevrey Chambertin 1er Cru "Corbeaux"

Review Date: 01/2024Light crimson-ruby colour. The bouquet is fractionally vegetal without the whole bunch pepperiness of Combottes. The red berry fruit stretches evenly across the palate, now with some pepperiness to finish. Medium bodied at most, but attractive. Drink from 2029-2035.

The 2022 Gevrey-Chambertin Corbeaux 1er Cru showed some reduction when I tasted the barrel sample. The palate has a firm structure, a "solid" Gevrey with flinty black fruit that veers toward a conservative Morey-like finish that comes across a bit aloof. Moderate length. It will require three to five years in bottle. (NM)

This is also firmly reduced and revealing nothing. By contrast there is exceptionally good richness, indeed the palate impression is lavish, as once again there is a superb reserve of sappy dry extract to the slightly bigger-bodied flavors that exhibit fine length though the warmth is more noticeable and it's enough to detract somewhat from the overall sense of harmony.*Bureghound Outstanding!*
Notes
Bill Nanson Burgundy Report: "The most open and complex nose – this is a beauty – so clean and complex. Clean, direct, cool, deliciously flavoured with tons of fresh energy – almost fluidity. This is a simply beautiful wine – bravo!" (12/2023)
