Wow, really delicious, deep and well balanced. Such richness in fruit, with fine-grained tannins adding energy along with good acidity for freshness. Minerals, black cherries, blackcurrants, bay leaves and dark chocolate. Elegant, velvety, focused and well built for further aging. Drinkable now, but best from 2030. (JG)

The Wine Independent

Review Date: 09/2024
The 2022 Farella Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon is 95% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Merlot, sporting a deep garnet-purple color. After a bit of shaking, the nose erupts with vibrant wild blueberry and fresh blackberry scents, soon opening out to classic cassis, pencil lead, and bay leaves notes with a touch of tree bark. The full-bodied palate is tightly wound with muscular black fruits and firm, grainy tannins, finishing long with lots of earthy nuances coming through. Clearly, Farella managed this challenging vintage very well. Impressive! (LPB)

Vinous

The 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Farella Vineyard is stellar. Compellingly dark and layered, it melds together spice, licorice, lavender, pine and rose petal. Vibrant and explosive, yet also refined, the Farella shows what is possible when the stars align. This is one of the best and most complete wines in the range. Moreover, the Farella Cabernet provides a very clear example of how well naturally late-ripening sites fared in 2022. (AG)

Decanter

This Coombsville site held strong through the heatwave, yielding bright, ripe fruit with classic Coombsville garrigue notes that weave through the medium-bodied palate. This vintage leans lighter and more elegant, with superfine tannins that melt effortlessly. The fruit and structure's freshness, density, and compact tension suggest solid ageing potential. Smart picking decisions and meticulous farming made all the difference here. (JC)
