2021 Domaine Hubert Lignier Morey St. Denis "Trilogie"

Review Date: 12/2022The 2021 Trilogie from Laurent Lignier is really beautiful this year. The bouquet has a sense of sappiness to its fruit component that is quite rate in this vintage, jumping from the glass in a very pure blend of red plums, cherries, raw cocoa, pigeon, a complex base of soil, woodsmoke, a touch of oak and a floral topnote redolent of peonies. On the palate the wine is precise, full-bodied and revels in a core of pure fruit, with vibrant acids, excellent focus and grip, fine-grained tannins and a long, complex and seamless finish. Really outstanding for a villages level bottling. (Drink between 2032-2070)

From Porroux, Clos Solon and Bas Chenevery. One of the richer colours, and certainly also seems quite ripe on the nose. A few tannins behind with a slightly fluid fruit. Not quite together at the moment but no problems either. Drink from 2026-2031. Tasted Nov 2022.

The 2021 Morey-Saint-Denis Trilogie is terrific, offering up aromas of plums, vine smoke, sweet berries and forest floor. Medium to full-bodied, fleshy and concentrated, with a layered core of fruit, lively acids and powdery tannins, it's the highlight of Lignier's communal appellation bottlings.(WK)

The 2021 Morey-Saint-Denis Trilogie, which comes from the usual three climats (see previous vintage notes). It has a joyful nose with raspberry coulis, fig and Morello cherries. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red fruit, good density, a bit broad-shouldered but there is fine delineation on the finish. Give it a year in bottle.(NM)
