Review Date: 05/2020Tart lemon has an edge of softness reminiscent of a fresh Mirabelle tart. The palate of this wine majors on bright lemon juiciness with mouthwatering efficiency. For now, the wine is tight, clenched and needs to come out of its shell and share its stony secrets. It offers wonderful concentration, poise and a bone-dry finish. Drink 2025–2045. (AK)

Poured from a magnum, this age-worthy wine is snappy and precise in texture, offering abundant minerals, orange zest and white peach in the aroma and crisp, stony flavors on the palate. Focused, invigorating and still young, it will drink best from 2028.

Bright straw. Clean, vibrantly mineral and racy aromas and flavors of green apple, pear and lime. Ripe yet brightly acidic, this exhibits a penetrating quality on the long, juicy, ginger- and mineral-accented finish. Very compact, dense and still youthful Riesling. Outstanding. (ID)

This shows the gentility of age, with spiced apple, pear jelly and quince flavors held aloft by lemony acidity and a solid foundation of chalky mineral. Lime zest, fennel seed and cool gravel line the compact, savory finish, which is slightly grippy in feel, giving impressive textural complexity. Drink now through 2032. —K.B.
Staff Reviews

One of the great, long-standing producers in Alsace, Trimbach is renowned for producing chiseled Rieslings that age beautifully and consistently over-deliver given their price. The Frédéric Émile offering is sourced from two Grand Cru vineyards: Geisberg and Osterberg, which, when blended together, create an amazing wine. Deep, full, and complex, the 2017 Trimbach “Cuvée Frédéric Émile” Riesling stuns from the first sniff of the glass all the way to the long, multi-faceted finish. If you want a truly spectacular white wine with a little age on it and in a perfect drinking window, then you owe it to yourself to grab a few bottles of this amazing elixir!

Email ScottThis is the Rolls Royce of Alsatian Rieslings! Nice and salty with lemon zest, key lime, orange, white peach. There are also flavors of Granny Smith apples and fresh, pure honey. Slightly oxidative in the very best way! Long and lingering finish with marvelous complexity and generous mouthfeel. It will keep extremely well for many years to come!

Email AaronI really like wine, if you've read my reviews you've probably clued into the fact that I'm kinda into wines of all kinds. Riesling is a stereotypical favorite of Sommeliers, and I'm no exception. Not that but it's an even nerdier Alsatian Riesling. The nose is everything you want Riesling to be. It's got a rich petrol, really pretty stone-fruit and citrus, some white flowers buried deep, and it's just rich and a little luxurious on the nose alone. The dry palate has really pretty honeyed sort of fruit, along with underripe peach, more petrol, and then at the end there's some really great lingering minerality playing around with the gas and little flicks of fruit. This is eight years old and probably wants another eight or so before you really dig into it, but if you want to enjoy it now it's a really fantastic sip.
