The 'Il Pino' is a complete success in this difficult growing season. This blend of Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot opens to attractive aromas of blackberries and cassis along with smoldering ash, tobacco, tar, herbs and violets all taking shape in the glass. On the palate this ample red possesses a gorgeous velvety texture and a lovely mouthfeel as it expands through the finish. (JD)

A wine with layers of ripe tannins and pretty fruit here. Medium body, fine texture and a delicious finish. Plenty of currant, mint and light wet earth. Excellent for the vintage.

The 2014 Il Pino di Biserno is a bit restrained and lighter in this vintage, but nevertheless quite appealing. Raspberry jam, mocha, espresso, French oak and mint are given an extra kick of brightness from the late-ripening season. (AG)
