2022 Domaine Georges Roumier Morey-St-Denis 1er Cru "Clos de la Bussière"

Burghound
Review Date: 01/2025A more deeply pitched and noticeably riper nose is comprised by notes of poached plum, newly turned earth and a floral top note. The exceptionally rich and very generously proportioned medium-bodied flavors possess a suave mid-palate mouthfeel that contrasts moderately with the strikingly long finale that is both slightly austere and rustic but already impressively complex. This firm and serious effort is one of the better vintages for the Clos de la Bussière in a while and well-worth your interest. *Outstanding*

55-60% whole bunch vinification. A powerful mid to dark purple. The usual darker and wilder fruit, with a briary note. Dark raspberry, almost a black fruit note, good acidity behind, and a savoury note. But really quite some intensity. Drink from 2029-2037.

The 2022 Morey-Saint-Denis Clos de la Bussière 1er Cru, blended with 60% whole bunches, has a precise, detailed bouquet with blackberry, wild hedgerow, and discrete oyster shell scents percolating through with time. The medium-bodied palate has firm tannins, slightly tarry black fruit, and gentle grip with a nicely structured, black pepper and clove-tinged finish. A very capable Morey Saint-Denis here that will age with style. (NM)

The 2022 Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru Clos de la Bussière is, along with Les Cras, one of the more overtly ripe wines in the range this year, delivering notions of red berries, spiced plums, petals and sweet soil tones, followed by a medium to full-bodied, rich and fleshy palate that's framed by powdery tannins, concluding with a discreetly sun-kissed finish.
