The moment it was made public, I immediately locked down the copyright to Hemingway’s The Sun Also Rises', says Hundred Acre’s Jayson Woodbridge. Four years ago, he also purchased Peterson Ranch on the West Sonoma Coast, a western-facing hillside site farmed by Jim Barbour. This wine is aged in high-grade stainless steel, expensive new French oak barriques, and pink-staved acacia wood. Captivating ripe apricot and ginger aromatics mingle with white pepper and unctuous orchard fruits. It is medium to full-bodied and boasts a bracing backbone of acidity, making it one of the best California Chardonnays to enjoy while reading Hemingway. It transports you into a dreamy trance, much like the famous writer's prose—it gets your head spinning. (JC)
