After years of working with this vineyard as winemaker for Morgan Winery, Sam Smith uses this site for his own brand with stunning results. Bright, snappy and yet intensely pure aromas of black raspberry, scarlet rose, lilac and black rock show on the nose. The palate is layered in sandy, suave tannins and a penetrating acidity that slowly builds through boysenberry flavors that are bold yet balanced. (MK)

Smith worked eight years at Morgan and knows the Double L of the 2023 Pinot Noir Double L Vineyard very well. Big-boned and juicy in dark red fruit, with powerful tannin, it’s brooding and intense, with lasting grip. (VB)

Email ScottA beautifully floral nose with scents of violets and lavender. Scents of raspberries and boysenberries. More expansive on the palate, with blackberry and dark cherry flavors. There is a tight core of tannin that takes a few minutes to soften in the glass. Once it does, it is quite fine, and the acidity on the lingering finish is a very pleasant surprise. This release has a beautiful quality to it and is an extremely memorable Pinot Noir of very high quality.
