From three plots below Volnay. A charming fresh ruby colour. The nose has not come out yet. There is an encouraging cherry and raspberry fruit, though the whole is a little bit firm at the finish. Fruit returns at the back. Quite concentrated acidity as well as fruit. Tasted Oct 2023.

Aromas of plums, cherries and licorice introduce Glantenay's 2022 Bourgogne Côte d'Or, a medium-bodied, pure and supple wine with a succulent core of fruit and melting tannins.
The unassuming but passionate Thierry Glantenay continues to produce delicious, sensual wines in his cellars in Volnay. In 2020, he put an end to roganage (trimming the vines) by tractor. instead, Thierry now trims by hand, with shears, letting the canopies grow higher (in emulation of his upstairs neighbor in Les Rugiens, Thomas Bouley). In the winery, Glantenay prefers to let temperature and alcohol do the work of extraction for him, keeping pigéage and rémontage to a minimum during classical macerations in cement vats. He presses gently, and élevage, without racking until the mise en bouteille, takes place in at most 30% new barrels.(WK)

The 2022 Bourgogne Côte d'Or, completely de-stemmed, has an attractive red cherry and wild strawberry-scented bouquet. The palate is medium-bodied with a sapid entry. It’s a fine-boned Bourgogne Côte d'Or with a powdery, quite fresh finish. It's a very capable wine.(NM)
