This is one of the most famous producers in the northern side of the appellation. Founded in the early 1900s it has been a staple in the region ever since. The winery is situated in the Montosoli area north of Montalcino where temperatures tend to be lower, and the vineyards are higher than most other parts of the appellation. The soil here is also limestone-rich, which brings additional freshness and precision to this Brunello. As you know by now, 2019 was a majestic vintage in Montalcino, and you won’t be disappointed by this producer, especially if you like Brunello that are lifted and ethereal. Aged for 36 months in large Slavonian oak casks, the wine maintains a firm traditional backbone while remaining accessible in its youth. This is a Brunello for purists.
