2022 Birdhorse "Evangelho Vineyard" Contra Costa County Carignan

With a nose that first starts with a hint of tart cranberry and then quickly transitions to darker and richer fruit. There's plum skin, raspberry, and touches of rhubarb custard. Accompanying the fruit is a handful of dried herbs mixed in with some loamy soil, in the best of ways. The palate starts fruit-forward before the savory elements kick in, quickly balancing the palate with dense earth and hints of armchair leather. A really delicious find, and another wine we have coming out of the amazing heritage Evangelho Vineyard, the vineyard itself is an amazing story, but this wine is a wonderful representation from it. This just wants to be paired with whatever you're having tonight, I could see this going with anything from pork chops to filet steak and everything between and at under $20 this could be a great mid-week wine option.
