The impact of the soil lends the cherry and brambly-berried fruit a certain concentration and power, though the house tendency to freshness and balance is also on show, with oak (all French, 25% new for 18 months) a notable but well-integrated steward. This 2022 Shiraz Estate has a youthful flourish of fruit with more engaging complexity if you dig a little deeper. Dark cherry and mulberry aromas are lifted by touches of spice and dried violet scents. It is a mid-weight, understated expression with fleshy berry fruit tones and a base of sinewy tannins that draw out the finish. This will be better in a couple of years once it has settled down. (AH)
