A blend of MV6, C777 and C115 clones from the '08-planted Henk Vineyard at Woori Yallock. Approximately 20% whole bunches. Matured in both 300L and 500L casks (less than 10% new). A deepish, bright cherry red. Subtle reduction. Very brightly fruited with its aromas of ripe strawberries, spiced cherries and pomegranate. Firm, in a good way, on the palate. Good energy and drive too. Structured and built to last – one of the themes of the very good 2022 vintage in the Yarra. Closure: Screw cap. 12.9% alcohol.

Yet another delicious, mid-weighted pinot from this stable, reeling off notes of griotte, pulpier blue fruits, strawberry and rhubarb. The tannins are creamy, with a belt of vanilla-pod oak, giving a lasting impression of summer-berry pudding. Layered enough, but hedonistic, such is the fruit. A real crowd-pleaser. Drink or hold. Screw cap.

The 2022 Local Vineyard Series Henk Pinot Noir has a lovely clarity about it, with Pink Lady apple, red cherry, sandalwood spice, pink peppercorns and briny acidity. It's not an overly complex wine, but it is a lovely one, with supple flow and balance. 12.9% alcohol, sealed under screw cap. (EL)

Vibrant and expressive, the 2022 Oakridge “Henk Vineyard” Pinot Noir is hands-down one of the best values we import from the Southern Hemisphere. With a host of high scores year after year, this wine delivers incredible value for a very reasonable price. Sourced from a single vineyard in the Woori Yallock area of the Yarra Valley, the aspect is north-facing — ideal for fully ripening grapes in the cool climate of the region. The wine is joyously youthful still, bursting with pretty aromas of cherry, raspberry and pomegranate. On the palate the wine is more savory, with faint dried green herbs, turmeric and an almost autumnal element of dried leaves and loam. The finish is long and lingering. Altogether, this is an excellent example of an approachable, ready-to-drink Pinot Noir with refreshing acidity and supple, well-integrated tannins providing backbone. This is so enjoyable on its own but would also be great with appetizers and small bites, or even a wood-fired pizza straight from the oven.

Oakridge's Henk Vineyard wines have always been extremely popular here with staff and customers alike. The is 2022 release is no exception. A distinctly pretty nose of rose petals, dark strawberry, tart cherry, light forest floor and baked cinnamon. On the palate, it is also very pretty. It starts out softly with dark cherry pie flavors, sweet (and slightly tangy) spice, a little saline and mellow fresh oak. All wrapped in medium-bodied weight and a lingering finish of hard cherry candy. Very easy to drink and versatile enough to match up with a plethora of foods. Great value, too!
The 2023 Oakridge Henk Pinot is a go-to value with great purity of fruit, showcasing elegant red berry and cherry notes. It’s smooth and balanced, with soft tannins and a fresh, lingering finish. Perfect for pairing with roasted chicken or light pasta dishes. A reliable, refined Pinot that won’t break the bank.

Notes

The Yarra Valley is Victoria’s oldest wine region, established in the 1830s. Located only an hour’s drive from the heart of Melbourne, the region is one of the southernmost appellations of the Australian mainland. Proximity to the Southern Ocean moderates the climate, allowing varieties like Chardonnay and Pinot Noir to thrive. Oakridge is a benchmark producer in the region, crafting elegant cool-climate wines since 1978. Under Chief Winemaker David Bicknell, Oakridge embraces minimal intervention and sustainable viticulture, crafting wines with clarity, balance, and site expression. Their meticulous approach has earned them numerous accolades, including the Halliday Wine Companion’s Best Value Winery in 2024 and a top ten spot in the Real Review’s 2025 Australian Wineries of the Year.
