From a vintage that was rich in tannin and extract and took its time to come around. It is now at a gorgeous moment, full of still-intense ruby red colour but with tawny edges and a brambled undergrowth feel on the attack. The tannins are still in evidence, chewy but supple in texture against soft black truffles and autumnal blackberry and raspberry fruits and a beautiful cooling ash finish. I love this, and it's perfect for drinking today. Proper Pomerol loveliness. (JA)

This small, 9-hectare property lies in prestigious company—nestled among names like Trotanoy and Clinet—on the prized clay soils that have made Pomerol legendary. These rich, complex soils are the backbone of the region’s most expressive wines, and this estate is no exception. Their steadfast dedication to traditional winemaking practices, combined with a modest annual production of just 2,500 cases, has kept them under the radar for years. That’s all the better for us. Because finding a genuine, beautifully made Pomerol from the storied 2000 vintage—now at the 25-year mark—is already a rare treat. But to secure it with impeccable provenance, shipped directly from Bordeaux, and offered at this kind of price? That’s practically unheard of. Aromatically, it’s a captivating blend of mature red and black fruits layered with earthy truffle, forest floor, and just a whisper of floral perfume. With air, the bouquet deepens and expands. On the palate, you’ll find pure, supple red fruits wrapped in silky, mouthcoating tannins, supported by impressive density and balance. It speaks to the generosity and warmth of the 2000 vintage, yet it also retains a lift and freshness that keeps it alive and vibrant. This is exactly the kind of wine that reminds you why Pomerol is so revered, shows the caliber of the 2000 vintage, and what a wonderful experience aged Bordeaux can be. It’s in a beautiful place right now—fully mature, expressive, and evolving gracefully in the glass. A hidden gem with real pedigree, ready to drink but still holding a little more magic for those who want to see what the years will bring. At our current retail, it's a stunning buy.

Here is a rare opportunity to enjoy a fully mature Pomerol from a legendary vintage. The bouquet is complex and developed, offering alluring notes of dried plum, black truffle, and dried herb. On the palate, it is exceptionally smooth and resolved, with silky tannins and a wealth of savory, mature fruit flavors like black plum and black cherry. It showcases the classic plush character and pedigree of its appellation, delivering a beautifully expressive drinking experience right now.

Traditionalists rejoice! Here is a newly arrived gem from the GREAT vintage of 2000 that is under 70 dollars. As expected, the quality is there! The nose is a heady mix of fall leaves, dark (and ripe) black fruits, turned earth and roasted black plums. In the mouth, it begins softly and smoothly with just a bit of tart earthiness on the tip of the tongue. The dark plums are more evident here, with a rich background of chocolate black cherry and subtle meat tenderizing spices. This aspect is very faint and pleasing. Overall, it is silky, easy and delicious! A lot going on for a 25 year old classic!
