2023 Chapelle de La Solitude Blanc, Graves

2023 Chapelle de La Solitude Blanc, Graves

Review Date: 09/2025

This white Bordeaux is a delightful blend of freshness and complexity. The nose is bright and aromatic with notes of grapefruit, white peach, and a hint of honeysuckle. A subtle touch of oak adds a creamy dimension without overpowering the vibrant fruit. It is a charming and affordable wine that is both refreshing and satisfying.

The deals just keep coming and this bottle, which is 50/50 Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon is just fantastic all the way through from start to finish. The nose is ripe, with a little bit of grapefruit and gooseberry, but there's also a little bit of fleshy white peach in the back and a touch of wet stone and saline minerality. The palate is a little bit fruitier than the nose, with more peach and apricot mingling in with the lemon curd and candied orange peel. There's still a good amount of acidity, but not so much that it's racy, and the weighty mouthfeel from the Semillon makes it a really plush and lux experience with each and every sip.

Notes

Located near Martillac in the Graves region of Bordeaux, the Domaine de la Solitude has been under the stewardship of the Bernard family since 1993. The Blanc is a blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon and is made with minimal intervention in order to express the distinctive gravelly terroir of the region. The Chapelle de la Solitude Blanc beautifully showcases the estate’s commitment to quality and Bordelaise tradition.
