Fine mid purple. The bouquet is superb, this feels like the perfect pitch of ripeness. The fruit is on the raspberry/cherry cusp with floral overtones. A thread of absolute purity with a very fresh finish. There are slightly firmer tannins accentuated by the acidity but well within bounds. Long perfumed finish.

This is actually quite aromatically similar to the Charmes though with more floral elements in evidence. The super-sleek yet dense middle weight plus flavors coat the palate with sappy dry extract that deliver super length on the compact, focused and very much built-to-age finale. This too is excellent and should age accordingly. (AM)

The 2020 Chambolle-Musigny Les Baudes 1er Cru has an intense bouquet with black cherry and bilberry fruit, crushed limestone and light iris scents that is (again) extremely well-defined. The palate is very well balanced with almost saturated tannins, perhaps the creamiest texture amongst the Domaine’s Chambolles with a spicy and quite lingering finish. Pure class. Three and a half barrels this year. (AM)

The 2020 les Baudes is another absolutely gorgeous example of the vintage. The nose wafts from the glass in a refined blend of red and black cherries, plums, chocolate, a complex base of soil tones, violets, just a whisper of mustard seed and new oak. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and sappy in the core, with lovely soil undertow and focus, ripe, fine-grained tannins and a long, vibrant and beautifully complex finish. Gorgeous wine. (Drink between 2035-2090)
