2022 Domaine William Fevre Chablis 1er Cru "Fourchaume"

Review Date: 03/2025The domaine's 2022 Chablis 1er Cru Fourchaume, a parcel selection in Vaulorent, opens in the glass with notes of sweet citrus fruit, white flowers and oyster shell, followed by a medium to full-bodied, ample and pillowy palate that's cool and fleshy, concluding with a saline finish. The 2022 crop is the penultimate vintage of organic conversion for the 78-hectare Domaine William Fèvre, though it's actually the 16th year the estate has been practicing organic. It's a terrific success, exhibiting tension and precision that isn't universally to be taken for granted in this Chablis vintage. Beyond the quality of the wines themselves, the big news at this address, which has been managed with sagacity and competence by Didier Séguier since 1999, is its acquisition by Domaines des Barons de Rothschild (Lafite). I'm sure Fèvre couldn't have found a better steward for the future.(WK)

Notes
Bill Nanson Burgundy Report: "From Vaulorent – 3.6 ha The classic, almost fizz of golden-yellow citrus – very inviting. Really vibrant in the mouth – such energy. A wine that directs you into its vibrant finish but holds you there with super length. Ultra classy, possibly a great Fourchaume!"(10/2024)
